Computing
At Peatmoor, we provide a broad curriculum which supports, enhances and extends the children learning opportunities. We provide a curriculum which aids both staff and pupils to develop their confidence and competence in the use of information technology in a range of context and situations.
As a school we follow the Computing scheme of work provided by Purple Mash. It is supported by Apps which are easily accessible to staff, pupils and parents. It provides teaching videos to aid the pupils understanding. The Online Safety curriculum is provided by Twinkl and is supported by resources also from Twinkl alongside many other providers such as Education for a Connected World. Each Computing lesson begins with an Online Safety recap, which is taken from the scheme Project Evolve.
Our Computing curriculum is broken up into strands to teach the skills of:
- Computer science
- Information technology
- Digital literacy
By using the scheme, we aim
1. To raise the standard of Computing with the school
2. To stimulate and promote the use of Computing in order to support, enhance and extend learning opportunities.
3. To use Computing as a specific curriculum area and also a cross curricular tool as part of the recommendations outlined in the National Curriculum.
4. To help both pupils and teachers develop confidence and competence in the use of Computing in a range of situations and contexts.
Including Foundation Stage 2 and at each Key Stage, children are entitled to the opportunity to develop Computing capability through activities that arise in all curriculum areas, undertaken individually or in groups.
The Computing and Online Safety curriculum provides the children with the knowledge and understanding of being a safe person within the online community.
