Music
At Peatmoor Primary School, it is our intent to make music enjoyable for all. We provide a variety of musical experiences which are intended to not only teach musical knowledge and terminology but to nurture a love of music. In addition, we use music as a vehicle to develop listening skills and creativity that can be transferred across the curriculum.
Our music curriculum acts as stimuli for creativity and expression in all aspects of music. This develops both individual and collaborative life skills in which all children actively participate.
Music is explored through:
Performing skills
- rehearse then perform to others using voices and instruments (tuned and untuned)
Composing skills
- explore, choose and organise sounds and musical ideas
Appraising Skills
- explore ideas and feelings about music using movement, dance and musical language and make improvements to their own work
Listening and Applying Knowledge and Understanding
- know how the combined musical elements of pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture and silence can be organised and used.
