Safeguarding and child protection
Every child has the right to grow up in a caring and safe environment. However, some children live in families that are having a difficult time and cannot cope with their problems, whilst others are deliberately hurt or neglected by adults around them. The council's children and families department has a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare and safety of children in need in the borough. They aim to work with families where possible in order to do this.
What to do if you are worried about a child
If you are concerned that a child or young person is being harmed through abuse or neglect you should contact children and families on 020 8825 8000 or the Police on 999 in emergency situations.

Safeguarding overview
Pupil safeguarding and the promotion of Fundamental British Values are at the heart of all our work at Viking Primary School and great importance is placed on identifying opportunities within the curriculum for children to learn about safeguarding. Our broad and diverse curriculum gives pupils the chance to experience life in all its diversity, to acquire knowledge, understanding and skills that significantly impact on personal development, behaviour and welfare and equip every child with the knowledge and skills required for personal safeguarding.
