Child Protection
The safety and welfare of children, or Child protection, means protecting children from physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect. - Child Protection is everybody's business.
Mrs Dehala is the designated Safeguarding Lead and Miss Norris and Ms Dawes are the Deputies.
The UN convention on the rights of the child states that:
- all children, regardless of race, gender or circumstance, should have appropriate access to Health, Social Services and Education.
- Should be able to lead their lives free from neglect, cruelty and exploitation.
- Should be able to grow up in a nurturing environment within an atmosphere of affection and of moral and material security.
There are five key outcomes for children from "Every Child Matters", Viking Primary plays a key role in achieving these outcomes which are:
- being happy
- staying safe
- enjoying and achieving
- making a positive contributuion
- economic well being
What to do if you are worried about a child
If you are concerned that a child or young person is being harmed through abuse or neglect you should contact children and families on 020 8825 8000 or the Police on 999 in emergency situations.
Ealing Safeguarding Children Partnership
Ealing Safeguarding Children Partnership (ESCP) is a statutory body made up of representatives from the statutory, private and voluntary sector. Its core duty is to ensure that there are adequate arrangements within and between member organisations to protect children from harm.

Everyone's Invited - A movement committed to eradicating sexual abuse |
The new helpline will provide both children and adults who are potential victims of sexual abuse in schools with the appropriate support and advice. This includes how to contact the police and report crimes if they wish. The helpline will also provide support to parents and professionals too.
The helpline is free and anonymous and will be open Monday to Friday 8am – 10pm and Saturday to Sunday 9am – 6pm. The NSPCC will signpost support and make safeguarding referrals to Local Authorities in the usual way.
